On a tour of the Amber Fort near Jaipur, India one summer, a friend and I struck up a conversation with our tour guide about how India and America share a love of stories. Later on, I told our tour guide that I was majoring in English and he was clearly confused. I spoke English; why would I need to major in it? I told him essentially I was majoring in stories. His face lit up; he understood instantly.
I write because I love stories.
I interview creative women and men who have built their own careers, developed technology, written books, or worked for a cleaner future. I believe every person has a unique story to share, and tell their stories with an aim to inspire and ignite my audience.
I've been published by The Millions, Bustle, and Inhabitat, among others.
I'm an avocado tree-hugging California girl residing in Washington, D.C. with my husband Aaron and cat Hobbes. I spent my first year here serving an AmeriCorps term with local nonprofit GRID Alternatives, installing solar power for low-income families in all four quadrants of the city, with the goal of encountering diverse perspectives and stories. I'm currently writing a science fiction novel.
